Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford might fight each other in 2025. They've been talking about it for a year now.

Canelo defended his super-middleweight titles against Edgar Berlanga last September. Crawford moved up to 154 pounds in August and won the WBA super-welterweight belt by beating Israil Madrimov.

The two champions are separated by two weight divisions and 14 pounds. But that's not new for Canelo. Other fighters have moved up to face him before.

Amir Khan knows both fighters well. He's the only boxer who's been in the ring with Canelo and Crawford. Khan lost to Canelo at a 155-pound catchweight for the WBC middleweight title. Canelo stopped him in the sixth round. Crawford also beat Khan by sixth-round stoppage in April 2019.

Khan shared his thoughts on the potential matchup in an interview:

"Canelo is a beast man. I fought both of those guys and I feel that size always wins. Having weight divisions, there's a purpose behind that. Terence is special don't get me wrong, but then there's getting hit by a guy like Canelo."

Khan thinks Crawford doesn't need this fight:

"What a fight that would be though. I'll favour for my boy Terence and I want him to win that fight, but it would be hard. Does he need that fight? No I don't think he needs it. He has done so well in his career and beaten everyone."

But he understands why Crawford might take it:

"He's untouchable and one of the best out there pound-for-pound, but if it's a big pay day, then I know why it'll be made. Why would Terence take a risky fight for less money when he can take a seriously hard fight for serious money."

Khan ends by saying he'd support Crawford, but it's a tough fight to call:

"We never want to see fighters get hurt, but he is a special fighter. If that fight happens it's hard to call who would win, but I would be in Terence's corner."

Rumors about the fight keep growing. Canelo recently gave a four-word response to the latest offer, but we don't know what he said yet.
