Why did Mike Tyson bite his glove during his fight against Jake Paul

Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson in a boxing match that got people talking. The fight went down at AT&T Stadium, where the Dallas Cowboys play football, and Netflix showed it live.

Paul, who's 27 and started as a YouTuber before getting into boxing, won against the 58-year-old former heavyweight champ. The judges scored it 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73, all in Paul's favor after eight two-minute rounds.

But what really caught attention wasn't the fight itself. It was Tyson's behaviour during the fight. He was constantly biting his gloves. When talking to Ariel Helwani, "Iron Mike" joked about this (was it a joke though?):

"Oh, I have a habit of biting my gloves, yeah. I have a biting fixation."

Tyson was poking fun at himself, bringing up the time he got disqualified for biting Evander Holyfield's ear back in 1997. Helwani quickly changed the subject, saying he didn't want to know more.

This fight marked Tyson's return to the ring after a long break. He hadn't fought professionally since 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride. He did have an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, though.

For Paul, this win adds to his growing boxing career. He's now got 11 wins and just 1 loss, mostly fighting against MMA stars and lesser-known boxers, but now having a boxing legend in his fights history.

The match between the YouTube star and the boxing legend showed how much the sport has changed. It also proved that Tyson, even at 58, can still grab headlines – both in and out of the ring.
