Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are getting ready to fight in a few weeks. The match between the 58-year-old former heavyweight champ and the YouTuber-turned-boxer, who's 30 years younger, has stirred up controversy. Many in the boxing world aren't happy about the risks that come with such a big age gap.
The fight was supposed to happen earlier, but Tyson had a medical issue. Jake Paul ended up fighting Mike Perry instead, stopping the former UFC fighter in less than six rounds.
After that fight, Perry thought Paul would win against Tyson. He said:
"I think you win. I think you're younger and I think you're doing the right things as far as what your team has you doing, it works."
But Perry changed his mind three months later. On the Overdogs podcast, he agreed with Roy Jones Jr. that Tyson might come out on top:
"I think Mike, too. I think Mike's gonna be just like… It's like riding a bike for him. I mean you guys looked great when you guys fought. A lot of experience in that ring. He's a lot smarter than I am for sure when it comes to boxing technique. He's not gonna feel overwhelmed to try and push the action. That's gonna be interesting to see."
Perry thinks Tyson's experience, smarts, and boxing know-how will give him the edge.
In other news, Perry got arrested and charged with DUI in Florida recently.
For those interested in the Paul-Tyson event, Netflix will show a three-part documentary series leading up to the live broadcast.
