Carl Froch Warns Chris Eubank Jr About Conor Benn Fight: "It's Not What You Think"

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are getting close to settling their long-running feud in the ring. The potential fight has been brewing since October 2022, when their initial bout was called off due to Benn's failed drug test.

Since that cancellation, both fighters have taken different paths. Benn has fought twice in the US, unable to regain his British license after the suspension. Eubank Jr, on the other hand, has been more active with three fights under his belt.

Eubank Jr's recent run includes a loss and a win against Liam Smith, followed by a stoppage victory over Kamil Szeremeta. After this latest win, Benn stepped into the ring for a heated face-off, with both fighters expressing their desire to fight each other next.

Former world champion Carl Froch shared his thoughts on the potential matchup on his YouTube show, Froch on Fighting. He expressed concern about Benn's trash talk, given his recent inactivity.

"I know him, I've met him a few times, he is such a nice kid, a lovely young man. He's obviously a fighter and wants to get in there and do some damage and get the knockout and he's exciting when he fights. But he's not fought anybody and he's talking like a road man killer. I don't get it. I understand he's got to sell the fight and big it up but it is there anyway."

Froch, who has sparred with Eubank Jr, warned Benn about his opponent's toughness and size advantage:

"Also, Benn's got to go up to 160lbs. I think he's going to struggle. Eubank can bang a little bit. He's quite tough. I've sparred him quite a few rounds. He gave me good spars, I've got to be honest. He can tough it out."

He added a cautionary note for Benn:

"Benn is talking about an easy fight, a mismatch, he's going to walk through him and smash him to bits. I understand he's got to sell the fight but be careful what you wish for because when you get in there and the reality starts raining in on the side of your head and straight in your face and Eubank starts swinging away, this could be more difficult than Conor Benn thinks."

Despite these warnings, Benn remains unimpressed with Eubank's latest performance. He's confident, promising to beat Eubank inside three rounds. As the potential fight draws nearer, the boxing world waits to see if Benn's bold prediction will come true or if Eubank's experience and size will prove too much.
