One of the owners of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship federation is the famous Conor McGregor. And Austin Trout (37-5-1, 18 KOs), former world featherweight champion, is eager to meet him.
The lefty from Texas, who recently celebrated his 39th birthday, won the BKFC welterweight belt this past February. He will make his title defense tomorrow against Ricardo Franco (9-2, 7 KOs). Lightweight and middleweight title fights will also take place that evening.
"I haven't officially ended my boxing career yet, my last fight was almost exactly a year ago. But as BKFC champion I have a certain responsibility and I have to concentrate mainly on that. I still love boxing and if an interesting offer comes along and it doesn't interfere with my fights in BKFC, I will gladly return to the ring. So until something big happens, I'll stick to bare knuckle fights," stated Trout (2-0 record, 1 knockout in bare knuckle fights).
Conor McGregor recently stated that he is going to have a bare knuckle fight in the near future. And that would be a chance for Trout, who competes at 165 pounds (74.85 kg), though he says he would easily move up to the lighter weight limit (to 70.3 kg).
"Conor will take fist fighting to the next level. It's a discipline that is growing rapidly and I'm proud to be a part of it. McGregor knows full well how his potential fight will affect his investment and how much it will grow. And then I will be happy to fight him," the American added.
