Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are getting ready to face off in a huge boxing match this September. The fight's got fans split on who to back, both emotionally and with their wallets.
On paper, Alvarez has got the edge. He's been fighting bigger guys for a while now, and for once, he'll actually be the bigger man in the ring. Crawford's taking a big risk by moving up two weight classes for this fight.
Ryan Garcia, who's trained with Canelo, thinks the size difference will be too much for Crawford. He shared his thoughts on the matchup:
"I've trained with Canelo, I've been around him. Bro can really push back heavyweights. This is the first time Canelo's actually bigger than somebody in a long time. So, it's like the weights are lifted off and he can fight even more freely. I'm actually interested to see. I can't wait for the fight. I'm definitely going to be backing Canelo, but, you know, Crawford is a great fighter and he could surprise me, but right now, where I would put my money is Canelo Alvarez."
Garcia's not alone in his thinking. A lot of analysts and boxers are leaning towards Canelo for this one.
But let's not count Crawford out just yet. He's probably the most technically gifted fighter out there. The big question is how the extra weight will affect his style. Crawford moved up one weight class in his last fight and couldn't dominate like he usually does.
We've got to remember, though, that styles make fights. Crawford's skill might just be enough to overcome the size difference. It's gonna be a real test for both fighters.
With just over a month to go, the boxing world's on edge waiting to see how this mega-fight between two of the sport's greats will play out. No matter who wins, it's sure to be a fight to remember.
