Tyson Fury won't change his corner team for the Oleksandr Usyk rematch. The British two-time heavyweight champion will stick with the same setup that was in place for his first career loss to the Ukrainian in February.
Fury and Usyk will face off again on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Three of the four major heavyweight titles will be on the line in a fight that'll determine the division's top dog.
In their first meeting, Usyk won by split decision and took all four belts back to Ukraine. Fury found success in the middle rounds but got caught with a shot that busted his nose. This led to a tough ninth round for the Brit.
Some critics pointed to too many voices in Fury's corner as a problem. His team included head trainer SugarHill Steward, coach Andy Lee, and Fury's father, John.
But Fury doesn't see it that way. In an interview to promote the Undisputed video game, he said:
"Not much time. I know what I've got to do, nothing drastic. People can say 'I want to change trainers or I'll blame it on me conditioning coach or I'll blame it on the cook or I'll blame it on the mouse next door.' Same team, same everything. I know what I've got to do."
Fury still believes he won the first fight. He gave his take on how he saw it:
"I thought I won the fight last time. I give him, me boxing all my life and watching boxing me whole career, I give him rounds eight, nine and ten, and round nine was a 10-8. So that's what I give him out of the fight, but obviously the judges saw it a bit different, couple of them did. One of them had me winning. That's what it was. It was as close as it can be."
As for his preparation, Fury hasn't started training yet. He plans to begin in about six weeks, giving himself around six or seven weeks of camp. He explained:
"I haven't started training yet. I won't go into camp for a good while. I think I've got 13 weeks today until my fight. So, I'll probably start training in about six weeks for it. I do about six/seven weeks training for these fights usually and I'll be ready to rock and roll on the night."
With 13 weeks to go until fight night, Fury seems confident in his approach. He'll look to even the score against Usyk and regain his status as the division's top dog.
