Khizhnyak started with a win at OI-2024

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khizhnyak, competing in the 80 kg weight category, successfully started at the Olympic Games 2024. In the 1/8 finals, the Poltava boxer won a split decision against ethnic Ukrainian Philip Akilov, who now represents Hungary.

It should be noted that Khizhnyak looked better throughout all three rounds, so the split decision looks somewhat unexpected.

Oleksandr Khizhnyak will have his quarterfinal fight on August 2 against Wanderlei de Souza of Brazil.
