Lance Spode, manager of the current UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland, commented on recent words Khamzata Chimaeva that he refused to fight Sean due to an injury received in the fight with Usman. The functionary said that no one offered Chimaev a title fight
“The fight with Chimaev was not even discussed! I don’t know what Chimaev and his team are talking about. He wasn't even offered a title shot against Shawn. It is quite possible that Khamzat actually suffered a serious hand injury. There's a lot we don't know. Shawn is the kind of guy, he will always do what the UFC tells him. If that makes sense. We knew that Dricus Du Plessis was always the number one contender for a title shot. And now there is no doubt about it. But, of course, Sean wants to end the story with Chimaev.”
Let us remind you that on January 20, as part of UFC 297, Strickland will fight with Dricus Du Plessis.
