Boxing Hall of Fame Member Bernard Hopkins believes Roy Jones Jr. the best boxer he has ever shared the ring with.
The first fight of the legends took place in May 1993 and ended with Jones winning a convincing unanimous decision. The athletes had a rematch in the spring of 2010, and then Hopkins turned out to be the best.
āHeĀ was smart enough to neutralize my best weapons andĀ to avoid my harshest blows. Even though I managed to hit him, he missed no more than one punch at a time. And this is the whole point of a fight with such unique people as him - if you manage to land one powerful blow, it is usually followed by another...ā
āHe was an all-rounder: the best boxer, the best in defense and attack. Roy Jones Jr. at the beginning of his career was about speed, reflexes, unconventionality and the like. No one, no one could have beaten Roy Jones at the level he was at at that moment,ā Hopkins said in an interview with The Ring Magazine.
