“We wanted to organize a fight for the Wilder-Ruiz mandatory challenger position. This fight did not happen and may not happen again. Why should we now insist on another mandatory challenger who is not up to Fury’s level and will interfere with the Fury-Usyk fight?” - said the President of the World Boxing Council.

Tyson Fury made his last mandatory defense of the WBC title in April last year. “The Gypsy King” is scheduled to return on October 28 with a non-title fight against Francis Ngannou (0-0, 0 KOs). It is worth recalling that according to WBC regulations, a champion must defend his belt against a mandatory challenger at least once a year.
