Carlos Adames (25-1-1, 18 KOs) turned back Austin Williams (20-2, 13 KOs) by unanimous decision in the main event of Matchroom Boxing’s card in Orlando, Florida, successfully defending his WBC middleweight title. After 12 rounds, the judges scored it 118-108 and 117-109 twice.

Back after more than a year away, Carlos Adames made sure there was no rust on him Saturday night in Orlando, Florida, beating Austin Williams by unanimous decision in the main event of Matchroom Boxing’s latest show. The WBC middleweight champion controlled the fight over 12 rounds and reminded the division that he remains one of its toughest problems, especially at a time when 160 pounds is still looking for a clear American breakout star.

Williams hit the canvas early, dropped in the second round by a sharp right hand that immediately changed the tone of the fight. From there, Adames dictated the pace, consistently forcing Williams backward and making him work far harder in defense than offense. Williams had moments of effort, but not enough sustained success to flip rounds against the cleaner, stronger champion.

Adames did lose a point in the final round for a low blow, but it had no effect on the outcome. The judges turned in cards of 118-108 and 117-109 twice, reflecting the gap between the two men across most of the night.

The result matters in a middleweight division that badly needs movement at the top. For Adames, this was less about drama and more about reestablishing position after inactivity; a win kept him in line for bigger unification conversations and preserved his leverage in a division with several title paths still in flux. For Williams, the fight was a chance to prove he belonged with the elite middleweights, and instead it raised fresh questions about whether he can handle top-tier power and pressure.

Elsewhere on the card, Omari Jones improved to 6-0 (4 KOs) with a points win over Cristian Gomez (23-7-1, 21 KOs), while Australian heavyweight Teremoana Teremoana moved to 10-0 with 10 knockouts by stopping Curtis Harper (19-13, 13 KOs) in the opening round. The focus now shifts to who Adames faces next — and whether Saturday’s performance was the start of a much bigger run at 160.
