Gvozdyk - about Usik’s fight with Dubois: “Daniel was declassed, then knocked out”

Alexander Gvozdyk, former world light heavyweight champion according to the WBC, commented on the victory Alexandra Usika in a duel with Daniel Dubois.

“My thoughts are: what happened immediately after the impact? The referee recorded that it was a low blow, an illegal blow. Let me remind you that this is a fight where a lot is at stake, and Usatiy, of course, understands this. So it doesn't really matter what he actually felt, but if he had even 1 percent of a problem, if it bothered him even a little bit, why give Dubois any chance in this fight? If you don't like something, change the rules. On the other hand, was it an equal battle? I didn't see this. In my opinion, Dubois was first declassed, then knocked out. If this episode had been decisive, then there would have been something to talk about. But I don’t see this...”, wrote Gvozdyk on his Instagram.

Let us remember that Usyk beat Dubois by TKO in the ninth round. In the fifth round, the Briton struck below the belt, after which the referee gave Alexander time to recover. After the fight, Dubois and his team stated that the blow was legal and the referee should have opened the scoring for the Ukrainian. Therefore, they filed an appeal.
