Last Saturday David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) defeated Caleb Plant by unanimous decision and became, although still unofficially, the mandatory contender for the belt Saul Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) WBC Super Middleweight. However, a fight with Canelo is not the only option that is currently being considered for the interim champion of the World Boxing Council.

Among the boxers collaborating with the Premier Boxing Champions project, there are at least three who, in combination with the Mexican Monster, could put on a good show.

The first alternative to Alvarez is the “regular” WBA champion David Morrell (8-0, 7 KOs) — the Cuban’s fight with Benavidez as the final eliminator for Alvarez was proposed yesterday by the head of the World Boxing Association, Gilberto Mendoza. Two other potential opponents for Benavidez are Demetrius Andreid (32-0, 19 KOs) and Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs).
