UFC President Dana White expressed the opinion that the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev should continue his career in the middleweight category.
The Swedish fighter failed the weigh-in before the UFC 279 tournament, exceeding the welterweight limit by almost 3.5 kg.
“Yes, this is indeed a problem. We need to think and deal with this. You know, I think that Chimaev should continue his middleweight career. It makes sense,” White said at a press conference after UFC 279.
Recall that initially Chimaev was supposed to fight with Nate Diaz, but after a failed weigh-in, the management decided to bring him to Kevin Holland. In a duel with an American, Khamzat won by choke in the first round.
