Former World Light Heavyweight Champion Sergei "Crusher" Kovalev (35-4-1, 29 KOs) moved up to cruiserweight division and won a ten-round unanimous decision over a previously undefeated Tervel Pulev (16-1, 13 KOs) in the main event of the evening at the Forum Arena in Inglewood, California. Kovalev controlled the fight with his jab, and eventually won with a score of 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93.

Also that evening, former heavyweight title contender Kubrat Pulev (23-2, 14 KOs) defeated Jerry Forrest (26-5-2, 20 KOs) via unanimous decision. The fight was postponed for 90 minutes due to problems with Forrest's gloves. When the fight finally began, Pulev easily won on points: 98-92 and twice 99-91.

Welterweight journeyman Jermaine McDonald (7-5, 3 KOs) knocked out previously undefeated Evan Holyfield (9-1, 6 KOs) in the second round. A right to the jaw knocked out Holyfield, the son of former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.
