Famed Russian MMA fighter Fedor Emelianenko denies that he asked Alexander Povetkin to renounce paganism and embrace Orthodoxy.

"That's not true. I worked in the Ministry of Sports at the time and invited Alexander - but not to convert him to Orthodoxy. People who pray for him asked me to meet him. We met with Sanja, talked, he stuck to his convictions. Then he said with conviction that he would stay in paganism. I passed the information, and that was the end of it," said Emelianenko.

On October 23 Emelianenko will fight American Timothy Johnson at Bellator 269 show in Moscow.
