David Adeleye (14-2, 13 KO) and Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KO) lost their last fights, so their face-off was logical. Perhaps that’s why Adeleye decided to challenge his compatriot.
David lost to Filip Hrgovic by decision eleven days ago, despite the fact that his opponent suffered a heavy cut at one point. Daniel, in turn, gave up the IBF heavyweight title to Oleksandr Usyk five and a half weeks ago.
“I recently participated in an important fight and I want it to stay that way. I am ready for better and I intend to prove it. I do not refuse fights; that’s not my style. I have shared the ring with Dubois many times during sparring, so he knows exactly what awaits him and what’s in store for him. And so do I. Together we would have put on a very good fight, and I am looking forward to it,” said Adeleye.
“I made mistakes in the fight with Hrgovic. I landed a hard left jab in the second round, and instead of continuing to work, I started looking for unnecessarily hard, knockout punches. You can’t buy experience. You have to go through all that to better understand boxing. The defeat was frustrating, but I believe it will make me a better fighter in the future,” added the Briton.
