Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov shared his thoughts on the future career of IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.
“I am very familiar with Gena, I saw him once in Moscow. I follow, of course, his career, he is a high-level boxer. In 2004, he was in the final of the Olympics, if I am not mistaken, its 2021 already. Almost 20 years have passed. You have to make one big fight in order to earn money for your age and that's it. Here's my advice. When a person is over 35 years old, he should no longer engage in such tough sports, especially in light weights. He fights 75 kg, isn't he? One or two fights and he needs to end.
"This is my advice. Because he has a family, his whole life is ahead, his business is there, he will have to move somehow... Boxing is a more traumatic sport than MMA. In MMA you can have joint problems, and in boxing you can have problems with your head. In general, it's good to beat those bloggers and make money. So that there are fewer of those, and you will earn cash. And to fight such lions as Canelo, who are 27-28 years old... You shouldn't do it. If I were in his place, I would knock out a couple of bloggers, take the money and leave the sport,” Nurmagomedov said at the EFC press conference.
