WBO heavyweight mandatory contender Alexander Usyk in an interview to his YouTube channel USYK17 said that the fight against Dereck Chisora on October 31, which he won on points, was on the verge of cancellation.
“Just before October 31st, I had several explosions in training. Something hurt, for example, there was an elbow injury. The fight might not take place... There were emotional explosions during training. The coaches acted as lightning rods, took over this surge. They were silent, attentive, smiling. I continued: “Why are you smiling? Is it funny? And I'm not funny at all!" Then we came up, hugged, kissed everyone. I say: "Guys, I'm sorry, I was wrong." They say: “Yes, it's ok. It’s a pity, we didn’t film it,” said Alexander Usyk.
