Ryota Murata (16-2, 13 KOs), 2012 Olympic gold medalist and regular WBA middleweight champion, is a very serious candidate for a meeting with Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs).
It is expected that the famous Canelo will return to the ring in September and, probably, in December he will end the trilogy against Gennady Golovkin. Murata may be an opponent of the Mexican in September. Previously, the main candidate for this meeting was Billy Joe Saunders.
Interestingly, such a fight does not have to take place in America. There is a high probability that it may take place in Japan.
“Saul wants to become an international star and wants to build his brand. This also includes performances outside the United States. We are talking about fights in Japan, as well as in Mexico and the UK. We will consider all these options. Of course, Canelo is ready to perform outside the United States,” said Eric Gomez, the president of Golden Boy Promotions, an organization representing Alvarez.
