WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (16-0, 11 KOs) had hoped to meet Saul Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) at the end of the year, but he is enthusiastic about the news of the Mexican fighting in November against WBO champion Sergei Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KOs), which he considers a great test for both opponents. Thus Bivol still hopes to meet Canelo or his compatriot.

"The fight with Kovalev is still possible, I'm ready for it. Let's see what the next few months will bring. Nobody knows the outcome of the confrontation Kovalev vs Canelo. This is a big challenge for both of them, a very interesting confrontation. Kovalev is one of the best light heavyweights in the world, he is bigger than the Mexican, who is, in turn, on top form and having explosive force and increasing dynamic power. Of course, I am still interested in a meeting with Canelo, I'm ready for it, I have excellent skills and enough experience to deal with Alvarez. He's not a heavyweight," said Bivol.

On October 12 Bivol will be meeting Lenin Castillo (20-2-1, 15 KOs) on the evening of boxing in Chicago in the main event of which Alexander Usyk will meet Tyrone Spong. Initially, Bivol was supposed to meet Marcus Brown, but in August he lost to Jean Pascal, which Bivol relatively easily defeated in November last year.
