832 thousand watch Gvozdyk vs Ngumbu

A rather large audience gathered on Saturday evening to watch the WBC light heavyweight world champion Oleksander Gvozdyk (17-0, 14 KOs) fight with Doudou Ngumbu (38-9, 14 KOs).

The champion from Ukraine, who recorded his first successful title defense, was watched at the peak of 832 thousand spectators. This is almost twice as much as the fight of IBF heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev against Bogdan Dinu last week.

The ESPN broadcast rating was certainly influenced by an earlier show of the UFC, although at the same time both of these events had to compete with the NCAA basketball tournament.

Gvozdik, who won the WBC belt in December in a battle with Adonis Stevenson, currently ranks first in the rating of the The Ring and, obviously, by ESPN. In the next fight, the Ukrainian is likely to meet with the mandatory challenger for his title, Marcus Browne (23-0, 16 KOs).
