Adonis Stevenson fell into a coma after a knockout loss to Oleksandr Gvozdyk in a fight for the WBC title in Quebec. The 41-year-old Canadian experienced a serious head injury and is currently unable to breathe on his own.

Yvon Michel the promoter of former light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson spoke about the state of his fighter. After the defeat to Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Stevenson was hospitalized and put into a medical induced coma to reduce swelling from cerebral haemorrhage.
The condition of the former world light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (29-2-1, 24 KOs) has improved. The Canadian remains in the hospital in the intensive care unit after being defeated on Saturday by knockout at the hands of Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
In Quebec, Oleksandr Gvozdyk (16-0, 13 KOs) deposed the WBC light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson (29-2-1, 24 KOs). The unbeaten Ukrainian in the third round sent the champion to the floor, but the referee ruled it as a slip. Stevenson returned to the game and had his good moment in the ninth round, when he clearly hurt his rival.
