In the main event of the evening at the Ota-City General arena in Tokyo, the Japanese "Monster" Naoya Inoe (16-0, 14 KOs) stopped the British Jamie McDonnell (29-3-1, 13 KOs) in the first round and took away his WBA bantamweight title. The time was 1:52. Thus, Inoe became the world champion in his third weight category in the 16th fight as a pro.

Inoe was able to land the left hook to the head and hurt McDonnell. Naoya went ahead and landed perfect left to the body, from which Jamie fell on the floor. He was able to get up, but Inoe rushed at him. Under the hail of blows, McDonnell happened on the floor again. A moment before, the referee stood between the opponents to stop the meeting.

Before the fight, Inoe was considered to be the undisputed favorite 8-1, despite being inferior to the champion 11 cm in height. At the time of the meeting, McDonnell did not lose more than 10 years and held the seventh defense of the title.
