The head of the promotion company K2 Promotion Ukraina Alexander Krassyuk spoke about the postponement of Oleksandr Usyk's fight against Murat Gassiev in World Boxing Super Series finale.
- Alexander, when did the trauma of Usyk happen?
- At the end of March. In all training situation, Alexander felt discomfort in his elbow. When it grew into pain, it was decided to visit a doctor.
- As far as I understand, you hoped that the fight will on May 11 to the last?
- Yes, we were sure that the battle will be on May 11 in Saudi Arabia and were in full swing preparations. But, unfortunately, it happens in boxing.
- Does he need a surgery?
- Now we can confidently state that surgery will not be needed. Alexander will soon return to training.
- How long will the rehabilitation process last?
- Only God knows that for certain. We believe that rehabilitation will not last long and in summer, as I said earlier in late June or early July, Alexander will be in full health and at the peak form for the fight against Gassiev.
- Did the Russian side try to influence the situation in any way, by imposing fines on Alexander?
- The fact is that the Russian side is in no way involved in either Alexander himself or, even more so, imposing any fines. We signed a contract with the Swiss company Comosa AG, which is also the organizer of the World Boxing Super Series. And all our relations, within WBSS are built exclusively through it.
- Alexander, we surprised by the constant statements of the leadership of the Russian Boxing Federation on the transmission of Alexander Usyk's fight against Murat Gassiev either to Moscow or Sochi. Is there any possibility for the Russian side, let's say, to buy out a fight, forcing Alexander to perform in Russia?
- It's difficult for me to comment on the attempts and opportunities of any market participants. Unequivocally, I can only say that neither Alexander Usyk, as a boxer, nor K2 Promotion, as his promoter, agreed to a fight in Russia. Therefore, perhaps they can to buy the fight out, but they can't to force Usyk to box there, of course.
