WBO cruiserweight champion Alexander Usyk continues preparations for his fight on January 27 in Riga against WBC title holder Mairis Briedis and started the final stage of sparring sessions that takes place near Kiev at the Olympic base in Koncha Zaspa.

Alexander's new sparring partners, among others, are former European champion Mateusz Masternak from Poland and promising unbeaten Isaac Chamberlain and Mikael Lawal of UK. Chamberlain and Lawal also helped Usyk in the fall to prepare for a fight against Marco Huck. In the past Chamberlain also acted as a sparring partner of heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
