Oleksandr Gvozdyk (12-0, 10 KOs), from Kharkiv, Ukraine, a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, enters this fight having won 10 of his last 12 fights by knockout. He will be defending his NABF light heavyweight title against Yuniesky Gonzalez (18-2, 14 KOs), a native of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, who lives and trains in Miami, Fla.
This fight will be the main support of Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KOs) defense of his WBO world super featherweight championship against Camden, New Jersey, native Jason Sosa (20-1-4, 15 KOs) on Saturday night in Oxon Hill, Maryland. HBO will televise this card as a “World Championship Boxing” tripleheader from MGM National Harbor, a new casino & resort just outside of Washington, D.C.
In the opener, undefeated fighters Aleksandr Usyk (11-0, 10 KOs) and Mike Hunter (12-0, 8 KOs) vie for a cruiserweight title.
So Gvozdyk vs. Gonzalez happens Saturday, April 8 live on HBO beginning at 10pm ET/PT. It’s 3 a.m in UK and Boxnation will televise. In Ukraine the Ukrainian card will be shown on the local Inter channel with the start at 5 a.m. local time.
