Vasyl Lomachenko is at it again as the Ukrainian star attempts to pick up yet another world title. Not content with claiming two world titles in the last six of his eight fights, ‘Loma’ is aiming to unify a division for the first time on April 8. The 28 year-old will compete in an eighth world title fight in a row when Lomachenko battles the tough puncher Jason Sosa in a bid to claim a second championship at the 130 pound limit.

Last time out, Lomachenko defeated world-class Jamaican Nicholas Walters in one of the most impressive wins of his career and now aims to win a third recognised belt before a further move up to lightweight. As expected, Lomachenko hit the ground running when making his debut in 2013 on the back of an amazing run in the amateurs, although a shock loss to Orlando Salido still rankles with the talented pound for pound star.

Avenging that loss could be at the forefront of Lomachenko’s mind should Sosa be brushed aside in the spring, whilst Salido will probably have to come through a rematch of his own against Francisco Vargas in order to gain a second chance to face the WBN Fighter of the Year for 2016.

For Sosa, the encounter is the culmination of a standout thirteen months. During that time, the New Jersey man has drawn with Walters and defeated Javier Fortuna and Stephen Smith to gain his chance at the world's best 130 pounder. More fights are expected to be announced by Top Rank for the undercard in due course, with the MGM National Harbor at Oxon Hill in Maryland said to be the venue for the bout.
