Promoter Eddie Hearn has admitted plans for a long-awaited Kell Brook-Amir Khan fight are 'dead until later in the year'. After weeks of negotiations, Brook and Khan have been unable to agree financial terms for the big domestic clash and are expected to seek alternative opponents for their next fight.

Following accusations from Khan that his British rival had 'walked away' from talks, Brook's promoter Hearn has revealed how discussions broke down after the offer of a 50-50 purse split was rejected last week.

Hearn told Sky Sports: "We've had a number of meetings with Team Khan over the last few weeks and on Friday we had a further meeting in Bolton along with Kell's Dad. "We feel this fight is easy to make with a straight 50-50 split, but Khan's team felt Kell didn't deserve anywhere near 50-50. It was a very quick meeting! I think Amir wants a warm-up fight before Kell, but certainly it looks like this fight is dead until later in the year."

Khan had earlier suggested that Brook turned down the opportunity to face him. He told ITV's This Morning: "Well basically my team sat down with Kell Brook and his manager. We tried to make the fight and Kell Brook said he doesn't want the fight, so it's not happening.

"It's something I didn't want to tweet, but you guys asked me so I want to tell you the truth. I want the fight and Kell Brook has just walked away from it, he doesn't want it."
