Pound for pound sensation Guillermo Rigondeaux’s trainer Pedro Diaz has opened the door for a mouth-watering showdown with Vasyl Lomachenko. Speaking exclusively to BoxingScene, Diaz revealed: “He is ready to fight anyone at 126lbs. People have been talking about Lomachenko fighting Rigondeaux but he's not a 126lbs fighter. He could come down four pounds and Rigondeaux could go up four pounds and they can fight. Let their fists do the talking.”

Speaking out of Team Rigondeaux’s Miami training base, Diaz added: "I'm a trainer who doesn't like to speak too much, I respect all fighters and all trainers. But at the moment Rigondeaux is one of the three most complete fighters in the World with Floyd Mayweather and Andre Ward."

It’s a fight that would leave boxing purists purring and one that has been in talks since 2015 but is unlikely to materialise until the summer at the earliest.

Cuban Rigondeaux is set to make the next defence of his ‘Super’ WBA World Super-Bantamweight Title against unbeaten Mexican Moises Flores on the Cotto v Kirkland undercard in February.
