Oscar De La Hoya 's relationship with Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) has not been the best for a long time, and the former decided to explain the reason for their feud. According to the former world champion in six weight categories, it all started with his proposal to change the coach. As De La Hoya explains, he only wanted to help and bring freshness to the training of his boxer.

"I've already realized what happened. I'll explain why he was so angry with me. A reporter once asked me if I thought Canelo needed another trainer. I thought it might be a good idea. I've had seven trainers in my career, each one of them taught me something new. I thought Eddie Reynoso could use a little help," De La Hoya stated.

"Guess what happened next? They called me disloyal. That's how it started, yeah. At the end of the day, Canelo is a hypocrite. Who is disloyal here, jumping from promoter to promoter, from contract to contract, from one platform to another?" - Oscar asked rhetorically.

"Who's being disloyal here? Have I ever been thanked for giving him the biggest contract of his life (as a Golden Boy Promotions boxer, Alvarez signed a five-year, $365 million contract with DAZN - ed)? Of course they didn't thank him. So who's the disloyal one?" - De La Hoya added.
