Malignaggi criticized Alvarez for his choice of opponents

Former world champion Paul Malignaggi said he is not happy with the way second middleweight division leader Saul Alvarez approaches the selection of his opponents.

"I've had discussions with Canelo fans when they say, 'Avni Yildirim was a mandatory challenger, he should have fought him.' Okay, but when Jermall Charlo was good at middleweight, he was also a mandatory challenger, but his fight with Canelo wasn't even on the horizon.

Right now David Benavides is the mandatory challenger at middleweight. Right now, that fight is nowhere near in sight. I have no problem with Canelo doing what he wants to do. For me, I have a problem with Canelo doing what he wants with the belt," Malignaggi said.
