Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya told how dancing helped him gain respect on the street.
āWhen I moved to New Zealand with my parents, I lived in a small town called Rotorua. We were the only blacks in the area. People didn't understand and found fault with me. ButĀ I earned street respect through dancing. IĀ just wanted people to like me. When I lived in Nigeria and Ghana, dancing was my way of expressing myself. But when I moved to this country, I realized that I danced better than everyone else at my school. āI continued to dance and tried to please people in order to fit into their lives,ā the fighter said.
