Legendary referee John McCarthy shared his opinion about the former contender for the UFC welterweight championship belt Colby Covington.
“Covington simply cannot reach the level of a champion. He simply cannot reach that pinnacle. There will be people who will say that he had a temporary title. The interim title is no nonsense, but it’s not a real belt because there’s someone else who’s actually better with the regular title,” the referee said.
Let's remember that at UFC 296, Covington missed another chance to become a champion, losing to Leon Edwards by unanimous decision.
