In a duel between former world champions in the first middleweight Liam "Beefy" Smith (31-3-1, 17 KOs) scored a thrilling tenth-round technical knockout victory over Jesse Vargas (29-4-2, 11 KOs) on the Taylor-Serrano undercard at Madison Square Garden in New York. In the middle of the fight, Smith was able to seize the advantage in the fight and achieved a referee stoppage at 0:41 of the tenth round. As a result of the fight, Smith got the vacant WBO Intercontinental Championship.
Years of rivalry and rivers of insults against each other have led Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Williams to Saturday's fight in Cardiff, Wales, in which Eubank sent Williams to the floor four times, but could not or did not want to finish the fight ahead of schedule.

Eubank sent Williams to the floor in the first, second, fourth and eleventh rounds, but Williams managed to make it to the final bell. Judging scores: 116-109, 116-108 and 117-109.
Chris Eubank Jr. (31-2, 23 KOs) and Liam Williams (23-3-1, 18 KOs) met the middleweight limit at the official weigh-in ceremony before the boxing night in Cardiff. The fight will be the final eliminator for the WBO world title. Eubank's weight was 72.6 kg, Williams - 72.1 kg.
