In the main event of the evening at the Barclays Center in New York, IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. (23-0, 20 KOs) scored a TKO victory over former world champion Lamont Peterson (35-4-1, 17 KOs), when after a one-sided beating Peterson's team decided to stop the fight after the seventh round. Peterson was knocked down in the fifth round. By the time of the stoppage, both Peterson's eyes were practically closed from hematoma.
