Lipinets stops Peterson, ends his career

Former world champion Sergey Lipinets (15-1, 11 KOs) scored technical knockout victory in the tenth round over the former world champion in two weight categories Lamont Peterson (35-5-1, 17 KOs). Their bout was the main event of the Premier Boxing Champs' Boxing Night at Oxon Hill.

The fight took place at high speeds. Both fighters threw a large number of punches. Lipinets tried to make his opponent go into a defense, but Peterson effectively counterattacked. The beginning of the battle was for the American, but in the course of the duel the Russian gradually inclined the advantage in his direction.

The 30-year-old Lipinets consistently smashed the opponent’s defense with blows of both hands, until finally, in the tenth round, Peterson fell on the floor under a hail of blows, and his corner threw in a towel.

After the fight, 35-year-old Lamont announced his retirement. Last year, Peterson also lost to Errol Spence Jr.
