Aspinall refused to voluntarily relinquish the UFC title

Josh Thomson, a former UFC fighter, and now an analyst, stated that Tom Aspinall refused to voluntarily relinquish the promotion's heavyweight champion title.

"The UFC asked Tom Aspinall to relinquish the title until he is ready to return, and he said he would be willing to give up the belt if he were released from the organization. Now this opens the door for him - he will be able to pursue boxing. It is really a very strange situation. The heavyweight division is now a complete mess.
