Nunes will not fight for the interim UFC title

Amanda Nunes, former two-time UFC champion, shared her future plans following the news that her opponent, current UFC bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison, has withdrawn from the fight due to surgery.

“This news upset me because I was preparing very seriously. My training camp was perfect. I was ready physically, mentally, and spiritually, so it was hard not to be upset about all this. But what can we do? It’s beyond our control. Now we just have to wait and see what UFC decides. People are talking about an interim title or fighting someone else, but that won’t happen. I only fight for the real title. If UFC vacates the title and finds an opponent, then I will fight. But no interim title. And I don’t want to fight a different opponent now — that’s not an option.”
