The current UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has named approximate dates for his return to the octagon — late spring or summer of this year. "El Matador" shared this in an interview with Spanish journalist Irati Pratu, noting that the exact date would depend on the development of the legal process.
A key court decision was an important victory for him: his ex-wife Georgina Uzcategui was prohibited from taking their daughter outside of Spain. The court rejected the argument of "online harassment," noting that airline tickets were purchased 12 days before Topuria's high-profile statement.
"This gave me a serious breath of fresh air. Now I can finally make plans for my return," the champion admitted, emphasizing that he feels much more confident after the first hearing.
Recall that on January 24, an interim champion will be determined in the division in a fight between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett. The bout will headline UFC 324 in Las Vegas, USA.
