Paddy Pimblett Reveals Fight-Night Weight After UFC 300 Loss to Justin Gaethje

UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has revealed how much he weighs by the time he steps into the Octagon for his fights.

Paddy Pimblett says he only sits at the lightweight limit of 155 pounds for a brief window before fight night, then rehydrates back up significantly before entering the cage.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pimblett said he weighs 70 kilograms (155 pounds) for only an hour or two, but is already up to 87 kilograms (191 pounds) by the time he walks into the cage.

That kind of weight rebound is massive even by modern MMA standards, and it will only add more scrutiny to the ongoing debate around weight cutting in the UFC. American fans and media have increasingly focused on how much size matters on fight night, especially in loaded divisions like lightweight, where durability, pace, and wrestling strength can swing close matchups.

For Pimblett, the disclosure also says something about the physical demands of competing at 155. Lightweight remains one of the UFC’s deepest divisions, with contenders constantly being judged not just on wins and losses, but on whether their style can hold up against elite pressure over three hard rounds or five in a main event setting.

His most recent outing ended in a unanimous decision loss to Justin Gaethje, a result that cooled some of the momentum around Pimblett and raised fresh questions about where he fits in the title picture. Gaethje’s pressure and experience have been a measuring stick for years, and losing to him tends to clarify exactly how far a fighter still has to go.

Now the focus shifts to what comes next for Pimblett — and whether his size advantage on fight night can still translate into meaningful wins against the upper tier of the division.
