Tom Aspinall, the UFC heavyweight champion, explained how he rejected the promotion's first offer.
"I didn't think I had enough experience for the UFC. I always knew I had a high level, but I thought I needed more fights before going up against such opponents. I had several fights in Cage Warriors, and then it became difficult to find opponents — there simply weren't enough heavyweights. After a couple more fights, I accepted the offer. I wanted to get as much experience in Cage Warriors as possible".
