Chael Sonnen, analyst and commentator, citing his sources in the UFC, stated that the organization will strip Ilia Topuria of the lightweight championship title as he has taken a break from performances due to personal problems.
"I don't want him to be stripped of the belt. I'm on Ilia's side. I don't like what he's going through right now. I think he's shared more with us than he had to. I also believe he's innocent. He seems like a good guy. I don't think he could have done all this. However, he will still have to be stripped of the title. If he's not stating that he's injured and can't confirm it with some kind of medical conclusion, no matter how dubious it may be, he needs to be stripped of the belt," Sonnen said in an interview with Ariel Helwani.
