Conor McGregor, former UFC champion in two weight classes, expressed a desire to fight the promotion's welterweight champion Islam Makhachev.

"I am motivated and definitely want to take this welterweight belt and the triple crown. It will be a good fight, a great clash - a southpaw against a southpaw. Islam had the courage to move up in weight and he performed well. Let's see what happens - I'm going to get back into the game. We are just waiting for final confirmation - I suppose they will get in touch and start matchmaking sometime in February. That's what they say. So I'm just keeping myself in shape, training twice a day. Hopefully, it will be Michael Chandler, but I'm ready to fight anyone. The UFC will decide how it all goes - I don't care. I just want to come back and show my work."
