Chael Sonnen supported Cormier, who did not include Jon Jones in the list of the greatest fighters.

“Everyone who goes down this path of rule violations does so because somewhere they had doubts. They wanted to achieve superiority, and then they come back and say: ‘But I could still do it.’ Well, perhaps you didn’t think you could. If you were confident in yourself that you could, you wouldn’t have shoved a synthetic chemical substance up your backside.

John was very upset about this. He doesn’t deny that he committed a hit-and-run. He doesn’t deny the allegations of using banned substances. That is what bothers him — the consumed picogram and a couple of failed tests. I truly believe that John could have become the world champion without steroids, but somewhere deep down at some point, he doubted it, and that’s the life he chose,” Sonnen said on ESPN.
