Javier Mendes, Islam Makhachev's trainer, named the best fighter of the outgoing year.

"You know, I have to say it's Alex ... Pereira. I have to recognize him as the fighter of the year. Alex made three appearances this year, and it was impressive," said Mendes in an interview on the YouTube channel Helen Yee Sports.
