Puryear's coach compared Khabib and Makhachev

Dustin Porier's trainer Mike Brown compared Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev to each other.

"The styles are similar, but they use different techniques. Islam is more likely to do underhooks from the standup, while Khabib was much more likely to throw to the feet. Islam's striking technique looks more honed, more clean. But we can't say that Khabib's striking was bad. He sometimes acted out of line, but he wasn't a bad puncher.

Khabib was criticized at times, but he was winning. He looked unfamiliar in the octagon, but he beat Ela Iaquinta quite convincingly. That's the style of some fighters. Everybody fights in their own way. Their tactics for the fight are similar - they both take their opponents to the ground and beat them up for all five rounds. They are both well prepared in terms of stamina. They just get their way in slightly different ways," MMA Fighting quoted Brown as saying.
