Islam Makhachev, UFC lightweight champion, recalled the beginning of his career in the promotion.
"Honestly, I miss the AKA Hall in San Jose. Because I knew every corner in that city. We were in the gym, we were in the coffee shop, we were in the coffee shop. Every day we practiced hard. Now things have changed a little bit. Now I can come to camp, rent a big house, rent a gym, bring the whole team. But back then, before my first fight in the UFC, I remember we lived in San Francisco, we would come to training, and between training sessions we would sleep in the car in the parking lot, closer to the gym," Makhachev said in an interview with ESPN.
