Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Porier expressed the opinion that the current holder of the full-fledged belt Islam Makhachev is superior to Khabib Nurmagomedov in striking technique and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
As a reminder, Porier and Makhachev will fight on June 1 in the main event of UFC 301 in Newark, USA.
"From a jiu-jitsu standpoint, Islam looks a little more versatile with his sub-missions than Khabib. Khabib had a few choke holds that he was very good with. However, Islam is putting himself, you could say, in bad positions by holding painful holds. He may be losing ground a bit, but Islam believes in his wrestling skills as a way to dominate.
Islam is a little more dangerous in jiu-jitsu, but his striking technique is definitely better than Khabib's," MMA Fighting quoted Porier as saying.
